Privacy policy
kaliko.au is operated by Komno Store Pty Ltd
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it properly.
What we collect
When you buy something: your name, email address, delivery address, phone number and order details. Payment card details are handled by our payment providers and never reach us.
When you contact us: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and whatever you write in your message.
When you sell or donate equipment to us: your contact details, and enough information to verify you are entitled to dispose of the equipment. This may include identification and proof of ownership.
When you browse: our store runs on Shopify, which collects standard technical information including IP address, browser, device and pages visited.
Data on devices you send us
This is the part that matters most, so it is worth stating plainly.
Equipment you send or give us may still hold your files, accounts and passwords. We erase every storage device with Blancco before the device is refurbished, resold or recycled. We do not read, copy, recover or retain the contents of any drive.
Drives that cannot be verified as fully erased are physically destroyed rather than resold.
We keep the erasure certificate for each device. It records the serial number, the method used and the result — not the data that was on it. Please back up anything you need before sending equipment to us, because once a drive is erased the contents cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
Why we collect it
To process and deliver orders, answer your questions, quote on equipment you want to clear, verify that equipment is legitimately yours to dispose of, meet our record-keeping obligations, and improve the site. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Who we share it with
Only where it is needed to run the business:
Shopify, which hosts this store; our payment providers, which process card transactions; and delivery carriers, which need your address to bring you your order.
Some of these providers store information overseas. We will also disclose information where the law requires it — for example, if police ask us about equipment we have handled.
Cookies
Shopify uses cookies to keep your cart working, remember your session and measure how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser, though parts of the store may stop working if you do.
How long we keep it
Order and equipment intake records are kept for as long as we need them for tax, warranty and provenance purposes, which is generally seven years. Contact enquiries that do not lead anywhere are deleted once they are no longer useful.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, and we keep as little of it as we can. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach occurs that is likely to cause you harm.
Access, correction and complaints
Email erasure@kaliko.au to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. We will respond within a reasonable time and will not charge you for asking.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to put it right. If we cannot, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change. The version here is always the current one.
